Fitting+Smoke+Detector

Your local fire-fighters can provide a FREE fire safety check in your home; giving advice on fire prevention as well as supplying and fitting, smoke alarms free of charge.

The involvement of the Fire Service with Community Safety has increased at a rapid rate over the last 18 months. Some of the more significant changes include the increasing links with partnerships and the involvement with communities on a broad spectrum of issues and increased work with young people.  Read an article on youth work here - Firebreak.

Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service have teamed up with the Police and Local Councils in a ground-breaking initiative to combat arson it has seen arson related incidents within the service area fall by more than 25%.

We need your help to reduce the number of deliberate fires your local fire-fighters deal with.

Be Vigilant.

  • Report any vehicles that look abandoned to Sedgefield Borough Council.
  • Report any insecure unoccupied buildings to the Police and Sedgefield Borough Council if you believe it is being used for illegal or irresponsible activities.
  • Report any accumulations of rubbish in your area, especially if it is flammable eg. timber, cardboard, furniture etc to Sedgefield Borough Council.
  • Report anyone you believe to be responsible for starting fires in your area to the local Fire Station Managers or anonymously to Crimestoppers on: 0800 555 111

REMEMBER
Only put wheelie bins out on your collection day.  Use Sedgefield Information Service to fine out the collection day for your area.  Simply type in your address and scroll down to 'Refuse Collection Section'.
